On 29th of March, the Korean Navy revealed that the day before, they filed a complaint to the Seoul Central District Court regarding the delay of the construction of Jeju Naval Base, and demanded compensation.
The demand for recompense was sent to Gangjeong Village Association, 5 related organizations, and 120 implicated individuals.
The Navy based their complaint on the around 2.3 billion USD worth of additional fees occurred as a direct result of the people’s disruptions of the naval base construction. The Navy claimed that the interrupters needed to pay 3 million dollars out of the 2 billion dollars as their own burden.
When the Navy filed this complaint, they raised the giant loss of public tax revenue through the act of interruption as an explanation for the complaint. As such, they believed the demand for recompense to be legally and morally just.
