On Friday May 10, From around 8 a.m., approximately 800 police and several hundred public worker thugs came to Gangjeong and forcefully removed the sit-in tents of the nonviolent protestors. 4 people including Gangjeong Mayor Kang were arrested. A villager, Kim Mi-lyang was knocked off a steep ledge by a police officer and suffered an injury of a deep 15 cm/6 in cut across her midsection. After removing all the people’s materials, a fake forest/garden, said to cost approx. $17,000 USD was quickly and roughly installed in the place where the tents once were.
